Employee health and safety is paramount to all who work in the dairy sector. The Dairy UK Occupational Health & Safety Committee is responsible for determining industry policy on occupational and health and safety matters. It also promotes best practice, draws up industry guidance and combines health and safety debate with a strong occupational health profile.

Targeting Zero Accidents


Current hot topics include the collection of industry accident incidence statistics, liaising closely with the Health and Safety Executive and working to reduce industry accident rates, specifically in the areas of manual handling, back injuries and slips, trips and falls.Other issues include risk management, migrant workers, musculoskeletal disorders, noise and vibration, moving heavy loads, occupational asthma and workplace temperatures.

The Committee has recently updated its Guidelines for the Safe Use and Movement of Milk Trolleys, the Dairy UK guidance on the Prevention of Slips and Trips in the Dairy Industry as well as the Guidance on Safe Systems for Working at Height on Milk Tankers
