Action Group on Johne'sDairy UK and the UK Dairy Farmers Forum have convened the Action Group on Johne's to drive work on a national Johne's programme. Members are drawn from Dairy UK, DairyCo, NFU, RABDF, dairy companies, veterinary practices, VLA, milk testing laboratories and other industry experts. Click here for a full list. The first meeting was held on Thursday, 28 January. Over two hours, the group outlined the issues faced and possible solutions, to be explored at the next meeting in March. Read the press release here The Action Group emerged from a successful conference on the cattle disease held on 3 December in London (more details below ). Around 90 delegates attended from all parts of the UK dairy industry, including government, milk purchasers, farmers, vets and milk testers.
The conference saw a broad consensus on the need for further action to manage and control Johne's, which Dairy UK is taking on along with its other industry partners.
